Prayers

Today is a post about prayers...most specifically I've got some prayer requests.
1. My husband Eric- he hasn't been feeling well.  Shortly after listening to an awesome sermon, I felt the need to go home and check on Eric.  He hasn't been feeling well, Sinus allergy junk and stuff.  No flu or anything like that.  So as soon as the offering plate passed by, I made my exit to get the kiddos and head home (Sorry Lenette and Samantha for not saying Bye).  Let me tell you, so thankful I did!!!  When I got home, first thing that came out was "need to find someone to watch the kids, something's not right. I need to go to the ER".

Okay....for my husband to say that is scary!!  Anyway, his left side was feeling heavy, left eye kind of droopy, he said it was worse earlier while I was at church.  HELLO.....CALL YOUR WIFE!!! :-)

Thankfully, he is fine.  We went to the ER, had his brain scanned.  Doctor believes he has Bells Palsy which is what we both thought but you never know. Better be safe than sorry.  So he is on anti-viral medication.  Please be in prayer for him, as he continues to get over the sinus crud, praying the BP symptoms do not get any worse even though we were told they probably would.

2.  Kayden - my sweet 6 yr old has been having headaches.  I started really noticing them around a month ago.  They are becoming more frequent and getting worse.  Kayden will go to work with me and see our favorite PA and then we will be heading to get a CT scan tomorrow.  This is more for our peace of mind.
He had a pretty bad concussion over the summer, so this isn't his first scan.
Please be in prayer over our lil man, that we will find some answers.

Thank you so much for your prayers!!!

He's talking about me!!

O Lord, I give my life to you. I trust in you, my God! Do not let me be disgraced, or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat. No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced, but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others. Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. Remember, O Lord, your compassion and unfailing love, which you have shown from long ages past. Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth. Remember me in the light of your unfailing love, for you are merciful, O Lord. The Lord is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray. He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way. The Lord leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey his demands. For the honor of your name, O Lord, forgive my many, many sins. (Psalms 25:1-11 NLT)

I'm ready the book of Psalms this month.  WOW....I just couldn't have said it better myself!  Who knew that he was speaking to ME (& many others I'm sure)!!!

Im trying to read a book of the Bible each month.  It's amazing what you can find in this wonderful book....when you actually open it up and READ IT!!!!

Let me Introduce myself

Hey everyone!  Most of you who read my blog already know me pretty well....some of you, not so much.

So....let me introduce myself! ☺️
I am Brandi Gunn, just celebrated my 7th wedding anniversary with my husband Eric, who happens to be my rock!!  We live in Northwest Arkansas & have four precious kiddos, Blake, Brook, Kayden and Presley Kaye.  I call Kayden and Presley Kaye (PK) my little bullets!  I'm trying my hardest to raise them to be warriors for Christ!  Blake & Brook live in Texarkana, Ar from Eric's previous marriage.

I was raised in a small southern Arkansas town called Fordyce....our mascot is the only mascot in the nation (that I know of) called the Redbugs!!!  🐞 A Redbug is basically a chigger.

Believe it or not, I am really shy until you get to know me.  I'm good at smiling and saying hi, but don't expect me to stop, unless I've gotten to know you. Once I'm comfortable and let my guard down, I talk up a storm....you may have to tell me to hush up!!
I am trying so hard to work on the courage to be able to talk to people of my church that I am not familiar with, but "know" thru the pre-school department or Awana's group, or even other ladies around our church and community that do a variety of things that I may be interested in.  I have realized that when I am out of my comfort zone (home, work & SS class) I tend to clam up and shut up!  For all that know me....this is not me!!!

Even though I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart when I was a teenager, I truly didn't have a full on relationship with him until 6 years ago, but until 3 yrs ago did I finally turn my thought process around and focus on the bibles word!!  I can't believe what I was missing!!! I'm not an expert and I'm still learning.  I am still working on reading the bible all the way thru.  I know....work in progress.

Almost 7yrs ago, my momma died....well actually she was murdered.  WOW....I use to hate that word and couldn't even say it, much less type it!!
This has led me to finally wanting to share my story in hopes to help someone out there.  Without having a foundation and having Jesus in my life, there was no way I could have made it without him!!   It has been a rough road, it's still a roller coaster some times, but not near as many twists and corkscrews as in the past!

I am SO EXCITED for what God has in store for my family!!

I AM BREAKING OUT OF MY SHELL!!!

GOD IS MY COMFORT ZONE!!!

I hope you will follow along with me on our journey!!  If you have any questions, please fill free to send an email...I would love to hear from you!!

Weekend in review

This weekend we celebrated Kayden's birthday with a few of his friends from his class at the Bentonville Bowling Center.

Earlier this week, on his actual birthday January 14th, we fixed his meal of choice which was....get this....chicken noodle soup!!!
He has been waiting for his 6th bday for a while.  On his 6th bday, he finally was able to get his very first pocket knife just like his daddy and just like Blake did when he was 6.  Don't worry, he doesn't get it out unless daddy or mommy is around!  I forgot to get a picture of him with his new knife....he was excited!

Kayden has been wanting a new bible for a while....actually since the day he was baptized.  I finally found the perfect bible for him!

The Action Bible has over 200 stories in chronological order that is real "eye appealing" to young readers.  Kayden has enjoyed listening to the stories and "reading" his bible!!  He even took it to school one day to show his friends! :-)
He also got a Sparky bag to carry Awana's book.  For people that do not know, Awana stands for:
Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed
and it stems from the bible verse:
Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15 NLT)
This is actually a different version than the way the kids say it during Awana's.

We had a small party at the local bowling alley where he invited a few friends from school & of course family.  The kids had a BLAST!! Someone of them even made there first STRIKES!!
Here is Kayden and his daddy waiting oh so patiently to see where the ball was going!!

Kayden and his Mr. Phil - Duck Dynasty cake; compliments of a fantastic baker, who happens to be a fellow Redbug!! ;-) You can find Tiffany Rowe-Hastings on my FB page and see some of her cakes and goodies!!  She has been making the kids cakes since she moved to NWA...which was about 2-3 yrs ago.  She lives out in Bella Vista!

Great time was had by all!  PK went home with Nannie, Pops and Bre for a few days.  I've been sick all weekend.  Still can't believe my lil boy is 6 yrs old!!!  So thankful I was chosen to be his mommy!!!

Kayden turned 6!!!

On January 14, 2008 @ 3:32 am, a sweet 6lb 11oz baby boy came into this world blessing me into the world of mommy hood!!!

He has been such a blessing to me and his daddy in so many ways!!  He keeps us on ours toes and makes us laugh so much!  He has the most caring and giving heart....reminds me of his Gma Kaye! ;-)

This was on my 30th bday when Kayden was 6mo old! :-)

Around the middle of last year, Kayden was evaluated for dyslexia.  He shows the "characteristics" of this disease and so we have him in tutoring once a week to help him get to the point to where he can learn to read!
My sweet lil man loves to read and write and it breaks my heart that these are the two things he struggles with on a daily basis!!  I'm so thankful for his kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Natalie Marts for bringing up the concerns she had with Kayden and then when Eric mentioned that he had dyslexia....she pretty much put two and two together.  She has been amazing and such a big supporter for Kayden and myself!  I truly believe that God placed us in her room for a reason!!

First day of Kindergarten with                          Mrs. Marts

Kayden continues to make improvements daily and we are thankful for Academic Math and Language Therapy Group for tutoring Kayden every week!  Thank you Mrs. Lisa!!!

Here are just a few more pictures of Kayden from the past few years....I love to look back and reminisce! 💙
